Planting and counting seeds

This week in outdoor learning we have been counting sunflower seeds into packets of 10. We will sell the seeds at a plant sale after half term for 20p a packet.

After we counted the seeds and made the seed packets we planted some seeds in pots inside. 

We planted 2 seeds in each pot.  Then we counted in 2's to see how many we had planted altogether.

Bird spotting

This week we went bird spotting for RSPB National BIG Schools Bird Watch.  It was really exciting!
We spotted lots of different birds.  We even spotted a parakeet on one of the days. 

 

We had to look very carefully and listen for sounds of the birds tweeting.

We took pictures of birds with the ipads and practiced labelling them using an app called Skitch.  It was a bit tricky at first but we are getting the hang of it.

 

 

 

Have you spotted any other birds this week?  I spotted a very large Jay in the reception playground when all the children had gone home.  Keep your eyes open and you might spot it too.
